Description

Executive summary upper shore aging, INC. (USA) serves as the designated area agency on aging for caroline county, maryland whose purpose is to develop and manage a comprehensive program of services to strengthen and improve the lives of the elderly so they can remain, and live well, in the community for as long as possible. As part of its mission, USA provides critically needed support and services to vulnerable seniors in the region, including nutritious food, connection to medical information and services, and opportunities for civic and social engagement. With limited staff and reduced funding from the state and federal governments, IT is imperative that USA expand its volunteer-supported programs so that IT can continue to meet the needs of the rapidly growing elderly population in caroline county. The caroline county rsvp program will address food insecurity for homebound seniors, improve access to medical care, increase community health knowledge and provide transportation, social engagement and additional support for vulnerable seniors. Since more volunteers will be needed to keep pace with the growing senior population in caroline county, the caroline rsvp program will focus on attracting a new cadre of senior volunteers who will be given both meaningful opportunities to improve the lives of those in need and the chance to strengthen their community through service and volunteering. Through the caroline county rsvp program, USA requests funding to manage and expand its volunteer-supported programs that address food security, access to health care services and social support so that vulnerable seniors are able to age in place and live well independently.
