AN ESTIMATED FORTY AMERICORPS SENIORS FGP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE; OF THIS NUMBER, FORTY AMERICORPS SENIOR VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PLACED IN OUTCOME ASSIGNMENTS. SOME OF THEIR ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE TUTORING, READING, MATH, LITERACY, AND MENTORING CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND THOSE WHO HAVE ACADEMIC, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, OR ECONOMIC CHALLENGES. THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THIS PROJECT IS EDUCATION/K-12 SUCCESS. AT THE END OF THE THREE-YEAR GRANT, AT LEAST 40 FGP VOLUNTEERS WILL HAVE SERVED 600 STUDENTS ONE TO ONE AND IN SMALL GROUPS. AT LEAST 90 CHILDREN WILL DEMONSTRATE IMPROVEMENT IN ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT, SOCIAL SKILLS, LIFE SKILLS, AND BEHAVIOR IN KENOSHA AND RACINE COUNTIES. THE ANNUAL CNCS FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $260,000.00 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $69,854.00 BY NON-FEDERAL RESOURCES, USING AGENCY CASH FROM FUNDRAISING EFFORTS TO SUPPORT AGENCY SHARE.
