Description
IT will strengthen the infrastructure and capacity of nonprofits, corporations, and state government to utilize best practices that lead to increasing the number of michigan volunteers in both rural and urban environments. The project will use innovative technology systems to support skills-based volunteerism, virtual volunteering, and employee and youth engagement. The goals align with mcsc's state service plan and within the cncs focus areas. The mcsc requests an investment of $740,937 for each of three years. Mcsc will make the same investment of $862,060 to bring the total annual program budget to $1,602,997. The michigan VGF grant will focus on making an impact during the covid-19 response and recovery by implementing three initiatives to meet the goals of expanding volunteerism and increasing the efficiency of effectiveness and geographic reach of organizations throughout the state: 1. Strengthen the capacity and infrastructure of nonprofits to respond to covid-19 by identifying resources and collaborating regionally to meet compelling needs and enhance the utilization of best practices in recruiting and managing volunteers safely. 2. Increase the number of michigan volunteers through corporate, skills-based, youth, and older adults to make meaningful volunteer impact. 3. Launch a volunteer hub of technology suite that supports michiganders to volunteer virtually and in-person, capture data to make informed decisions, and serve as a catalyst for inspiration and recognition.
