Description

Monadnock rsvp volunteer center has been at the forefront of meeting critical needs through volunteer service, as well as providing meaningful opportunities to adults 55 and older since 1974 under the sponsorship of monadnock family services (MFS), a community mental health center serving southwestern new hampshire. With 195 employees, our 114-year-old organization offers more than a dozen distinct programs in parent education, youth development, family support, elder care, volunteer services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and individual and group treatment for persons and families struggling with mental illness. We are a monadnock united way agency. We are requesting $86,913 to support an estimated 150 unduplicated volunteers serving at 35 rsvp stations and in our america reads and neighbors-in-deed programs. Of this number, 103 rsvp volunteers will be placed in outcome assignments at the end of the three-year grant. The cncs federal investment will be supplemented by $42,792 of non-federal resources from monadnock united way, supplemental grants, fundraising, and in-kind contributions. Rsvp's work plans will be in the primary focus area of education, in which 103 rsvp volunteers will provide literacy support to children in grades k-3 and in early childhood education programs to improve school readiness and literacy skills. Other service activities will be in the areas of: healthy futures, veterans and military family members, and capacity building. Our focus is to build strategic partnerships that align with national priorities and performance measure outcomes. Monadnock rsvp has broad, lasting effects on a wide range of people documented by performance measures and stakeholder surveys. We remain the only organization in the area that provides individualized volunteer management services for volunteers and agencies. We are also the only program that provides screened, trained volunteers to the schools to tutor children and independent living services free of charge. Through community collaborations and our committed, unpaid workforce, we strive to improve social living conditions and create long-term change that produces healthy, well-educated, and financially stable individuals and families in our community.
