The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded JVS Socal $3,675,000 on October 1, 2025, under the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (CFDA 64.033) to provide supportive services to very low-income veteran families.
JVS Socal, a tax-exempt non-profit organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California, will deliver required outreach services, case management, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits. The recipient will also provide temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties on behalf of participants for child care, emergency housing assistance, transportation, rental assistance, utility-fee payment assistance, security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance including emergency supplies. Optional services may include legal assistance and financial management services.
Services are directed to very low-income veteran families residing in permanent housing, homeless and scheduled to become residents of permanent housing within a specified time period, or after exiting permanent housing within a specified time period and seeking other housing responsive to their needs and preferences. The program employs a rapid re-housing and homelessness prevention model to help veterans access and sustain permanent rental housing without preconditions while facilitating access to health care, employment, legal services, and other supports.
Period of performance runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. Place of performance is California.
