THE MASTER OF SCIENCE IN EQUINE STUDIES PROGRAM (MES) FOCUSES ON PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH THE CURRENT SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND RELEVANT SKILLS TO SERVE THE GROWING EQUINE INDUSTRY NEEDS OF INDIANA, THE MIDWEST AND THE UNITED STATES.STUDENTS EXPERIENCE AN EQUINE INDUSTRY EMERSION ON CAMPUS WITH OVER FORTY HORSES ON CAMPUS AND A CLASSROOM EQUIPPED WITH HORSE STOCKS FOR LECTURE HANDS-ON DEMONSTRATIONS.THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS FOR STUDENTS TO CHOOSE FROM GRADUATE EDUCATION CONCENTRATION IN EQUINE INSTRUCTION AND COACHING OR EQUINE SCIENCE.STUDENTS SELECTING THE EQUINE INSTRUCTION AND COACHING OPTION WILL BE PREPARED FOR TEACHING AND COACHING POSITIONS AT TECHNICAL AND COMMUNITY COLLEGES AS WELL AS COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.THE EQUINE SCIENCE CONCENTRATION CAN BE EITHER A THESIS OR NON-THESIS OPTION.STUDENTS SELECTING A THESIS OPTION WILL BE ABLE TO SPECIALIZE IN REPRODUCTIVE PHYSIOLOGY, STRESS PHYSIOLOGY, NUTRITION, BEHAVIOR, OR PHYSIOLOGY.SMALL CLASS SIZES ALLOW STUDENTS TO HAVE MORE CLASSROOM ENGAGEMENT AND MENTORING FROM EXPERT FACULTY.THE PROGRAM WILL ALSO PROVIDE CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS FOR EQUINE INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS SPECIFICALLY IN EQUINE SCIENCE.
