The program builds on the well-established collaboration among little big horn college, montana state university bozeman and several crow community organizations.objectives: (i) strengthen lbhc's educational pathways to degrees and careers in water resources/environmental science, environmental health, community health and related disciplines. (II) increase recruitment, retention and graduation of native students in these and other college of agriculture (COA) and health and human development (HHD) degree programs at MSU. (III) increase recruitment of native american graduate students in community health graduate degree program at MSU. (IV) improve native student experience at MSU by increasing faculty understanding of these students and their communities. (v) conduct formative and summative evaluation as the basis for continual quality improvement, and (VI) disseminate project results. We will strengthen lbhc's associates degree programs in natural resource management and community health by adding two new courses which incorporate place-based and cultural components; build 2 + 2 agreements with MSU for stem majors; provide meaningful student research internships for experiential learning; ensure holistic student support services; support students in the transfer process; create a home-away-from-home for native stem scholars at MSU, and offer faculty development in mentoring native students. Additionally, we will create two four-day exchange programs, one for lbhc students at MSU, and the second a summer camp for all team members in crow. Our program goal is vital, as these crow and other native students are becoming leaders; they are everyone's hope for the future of our tribes.
