Rhodes State College was awarded a $500,000 Project Grant from the United States Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture under the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative competitive grants program. The goal of this award is to expand Rhodes State College's existing Agriculture Business certificate program to include the creation of an Agriculture Technology program to develop a technology-competent and data-savvy workforce to meet the needs of farmers and other agricultural employers in Northwest Ohio.
Specifically, Rhodes State College will create an Agriculture Design Laboratory available to students and agricultural partners for collaboration on agricultural technology. The college will also establish the Center for Agricultural Technology Training. Through this funding, Rhodes State College will develop three additional stackable certificates in Agronomy, Prescription Mapping, and Robotics/AI, along with a two-year Associate's degree program. The programs are designed to provide students scientific and technical skills related to optimizing crop yields, precision agriculture technology, and autonomous machinery.
