The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded Friendship Place $9.268 million under the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (CFDA 64.033) on October 1, 2025, for a period of performance through September 30, 2026. Friendship Place will provide required outreach services, case management, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits to very low-income veteran families residing in permanent housing, homeless and scheduled to transition to permanent housing, or exiting permanent housing and seeking responsive alternative housing. The recipient may also provide optional temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties on behalf of participants for child care, emergency housing assistance, transportation, rental assistance, utility-fee payment assistance, security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance including emergency supplies, as well as legal assistance and financial management services in accordance with 38 CFR Part 62. Services are delivered across the United States. Friendship Place, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, has established itself as a significant federal grantee in veteran services, with this award representing one of multiple SSVF grants the organization holds totaling over $15 million.
