Ki Bois will provide supportive services to very low-income veteran families residing in or transitioning to permanent housing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Required services include outreach, case management, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits. The grant also funds temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties on behalf of participants for child care, emergency housing assistance, transportation, rental assistance, utility-fee payment assistance, security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance including emergency supplies. Optional services may include legal assistance and financial management services.
The award supports the SSVF program's mission to rapidly rehouse veterans who are literally homeless and prevent veterans from becoming homeless through a veteran-centered, housing-first approach with supportive services. The program focuses on helping veteran households access and sustain permanent rental housing quickly and efficiently while facilitating access to health care, employment, legal services, and other supports to maintain housing and improve quality of life. Ki Bois has held recurring SSVF awards since 2021, including prior grants of $3.1 million (October 2022) and $1.27 million (September 2021–2023).
