About this award
The Corporation for National and Community Service Office of Grants Management awarded Housing Partnership Inc., doing business as Community Partners, a $186,975 Project Grant under the AmeriCorps Volunteers In Service to America (VISTA) program (CFDA 94.013). The grant will support a Community Partners of South Florida AmeriCorps VISTA project through August 2023.
Ten VISTA members and one lead will perform community outreach, service expansion in underserved neighborhoods, and leadership development activities over three to four years. Nine sites focus on increasing access to healthcare while one addresses economic opportunities. All sites aim to address poverty's root causes, including lack of racial equity, through strategies informed by an organizing member focused on combating racism. Eight sites complete three-year commitments while one new site begins a three-year term and another seeds sustainable strategies over one year. Funding will support VISTA members' work to build social capital and resident leadership capacity to create impactful change for children and families in poverty across Palm Beach County, Florida.
Description
The proposed cpsfl americorps vista project will seek to build social capital and expects to benefit from residents building their capacity and entering roles of leadership to create impactful change. Ten vistas with one lead will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as community outreach and engagement, expansion of services within under-served and disadvantaged neighborhoods, and creating leadership opportunities, over the course of three to four years. This years' vista projects align with the FY 21 program priorities of economic opportunity and healthy futures. Nine sites are focused on increasing access for a healthier future and the other site is focused on increasing access to economic opportunities. All sites are diving deeper to mobilize on strategies that impact the root cause of poverty, the lack of racial equity. The inclusion of a organizing against racism support member provides our county the missing capacity needed to continue to mobilize county-based strategies to promote equity. There are eight sites completing their three-year commitment, one new site entering a three-year commitment, and one site requesting a single-year opportunity to seed sustainable strategies.
