HOME LINE'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE FREE LEGAL, ORGANIZING, EDUCATIONAL AND ADVOCACY SERVICES SO TENANTS THROUGHOUT MINNESOTA CAN SOLVE THEIR OWN RENTAL HOUSING PROBLEMS. HOME LINE WORKS TO IMPROVE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE POLICIES RELATING TO RENTAL HOUSING BY INVOLVING AFFECTED TENANTS IN THE PROCESS. HOME LINE'S PROPOSED VISTA COHORT PROJECT ALIGNS WITH SEVERAL CNCS FOCUS AREAS, BUT THE PRIMARY FOCUS IS ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY IN HOUSING. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO BUILD, MAINTAIN, AND IMPROVE FORMAL AND INFORMAL NETWORKS OF LOW-INCOME RENTER HOUSEHOLDS TO BETTER ADDRESS HOUSING QUALITY, INSTABILITY, AND AFFORDABILITY ISSUES IN A VARIETY OF GEOGRAPHIC AND CULTURALLY-BASED COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE TWIN CITIES METRO AREA. WE EXPECT THIS PROJECT TO DIRECTLY BENEFIT SEVERAL HUNDRED LOW-INCOME RENTER HOUSEHOLDS. SIX VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS TENANT EDUCATION, ENGAGEMENT, ORGANIZING, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OVER THE COURSE OF ONE TO THREE YEARS.
