Description
Of this number, 191 rsvp volunteers will be placed in outcome based assignments. Some of the volunteer activities include providing companionship and/or transportation to isolated seniors, delivering meals to homebound seniors, making repairs and modifications in the homes of seniors and providing support and educational services to residents with food insecurity. In addition, rsvp volunteers will be recruited and retained to tutor children struggling with reading or math proficiency. The primary focus of this project is healthy futures. At the end of the three year grant, IT is anticipated that over 275 recipients of in-home or telephone companionship, delivered meals and home repairs, will report having increased social support. IT is expected that at least 300 individuals that received support and services from food bank volunteers will report increased food security and that an estimated 85 students will have improved academic performance in language arts. Rsvp will also have a core of volunteers that serve in community priority areas. These volunteers will participate in activities such as visiting and advocating for seniors in licensed care facilities, guiding tours at museums, providing care and comfort to stray and abandoned animals, assisting local law enforcement with clerical and outreach, serving lunch at congregate meal sites, providing information to hospital visitors and assisting travelers at the sacramento airport. The cncs federal investment of $190,935 will be supplemented by a minimum of $81,829 from non-federal resources and in-kind donations.
