THE SALMON EMPOWERMENT PROJECT'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO SALMON'S NEXT GENERATION TO EXPERIENCE OUTDOOR ADVENTURES, ENGAGE IN CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND TO ENRICH THE LEMHI VALLEY BY GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. THE MAHONEY HOUSE BUILDING CAPACITY AND CONNECTIONS PROJECT ADDRESSES THE FOLLOWING VISTA PROGRAMMING PRIORITIES FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR: ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES, EDUCATION, AND HEALTHY FUTURES. ONE VISTA MEMBER PER YEAR WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS CREATING POLICIES AND PROTOCOLS FOR MENTOR AND MENTEE APPLICATIONS; TRAINING INTERVIEWERS FOR MENTORS AND MENTEES FOR POTENTIAL MATCHES; BUILDING A TRAINING PROGRAM FOR MENTORS; COMPLETING A FLEXIBLE CURRICULUM FOR THE SOCIAL AND EMOTION LEARNING GROUPS; AND PROVIDING OUTREACH FOR PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS REGARDING ALL PROGRAMS, INCLUDING EFFECTS OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE--INCLUDING OPIOIDS, OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS.
