NORTHWEST COLORADO COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (NWCCOG) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1972 BY EXECUTIVE ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR, AND SERVES A FIVE COUNTY REGION INCLUDING EAGLE, GRAND, JACKSON, PITKIN AND SUMMIT COUNTIES AND MUNICIPALITIES THEREIN. THE PURPOSE OF THE NWCCOG IS TO BE RESPONSIVE TO MEMBER'S NEEDS AND INTERESTS BY PROVIDING GUIDANCE AND ASSISTANCE IN PROBLEM SOLVING, INFORMATION SHARING AND PARTNERSHIP BUILDING, ADVOCATING MEMBER'S INTERESTS AND NEEDS WITH LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL ENTITIES, AND PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICES TO OUR MEMBERSHIP THAT ARE RELEVANT, EFFECTIVE, AND EFFICIENT. AN ESTIMATED 100 UNDUPLICATED RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE UNDER THE ALPINE AREA AGENCY ON AGENCY (ALPINE AAA), A DEPARTMENT OF THE NWCCOG, IN THEIR MANAGEMENT OF ALPINE AREA RSVP FOR EAGLE COUNTY. THE ALPINE AREA RSVP'S PROJECT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE SERVING AS SENIOR VISITORS AT CONGREGATE MEAL SITES PROVIDING SOCIAL INTERACTION DURING MEAL TIMES, DELIVERING MEALS TO HOMEBOUND INDIVIDUALS, PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION SERVICES TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND NEEDS BASED ERRANDS TO OLDER ADULTS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, AND PROVIDING COMPANION RESPITE SERVICES FOR CAREGIVERS OF HOMEBOUND OLDER ADULTS. THE NETWORK OF RSVP VOLUNTEER STATIONS INCLUDE HUMAN SERVICES, MEAL SITES, AGING SERVICES, AND TRANSPORTATION. THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE ALPINE AREA RSVP PROJECT IS HEALTHY FUTURES. AT THE END OF THE THREE-YEAR GRANT, THE ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES OF THESE ACTIVITIES WILL BE 100 RSVP VOLUNTEERS PROVIDING APPROXIMATELY 225 CLIENTS WITH SERVICES THAT INCREASE SOCIAL TIES AND SUPPORT, HELP AVOID ISOLATION, MAKE CLIENT'S DAILY LIVES BETTER, ALLOW CLIENTS TO CONTINUE TO AGE IN PLACE AND LIVE INDEPENDENTLY, AND AVOID EARLY INSTITUTIONALIZATION. THE CNCS ANNUAL FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $81,693 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $35,012 IN NON-FEDERAL RESOURCES.
