POMONA VALLEY COMMUNITY SERVICES D/B/A COMMUNITY SENIOR SERVICES HAS SUCCESSFULLY SPONSORED FOOTHILL COMMUNITIES RSVP FOR 36 YEARS AND IS APPLYING FOR THE RENEWAL OF RSVP PROJECT CA-12. THE CNCS FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $58,671 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $26,848. OUR MISSION IS "TO SUPPORT AND EDUCATE OLDER ADULTS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO MAINTAIN INDEPENDENCE AND TO AGE WELL AT HOME AND IN THE COMMUNITY." WE ARE A NON-PROFIT WITH 8 PROGRAMS SUPPORTING 71,000 SENIORS (65 AND OVER) IN 16 CITIES. AN ESTIMATED 235 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE. OF THIS NUMBER 169 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PLACED IN OUTCOME BASED ASSIGNMENTS. SOME OF THEIR ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE MEAL DELIVERY, COMPANIONSHIP, TRANSPORTATION, AND HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA FOR THIS PROJECT IS HEALTHY FUTURES. AT THE END OF THE THREE YEAR GRANT, THOSE RECEIVING VOLUNTEER SERVICES WILL REPORT HAVING INCREASED SOCIAL TIES/PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT AND INCREASED SERVICES SUCH AS RECEIVING FOOD, TRANSPORTATION AND OTHER SERVICES THAT ALLOW THEM TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY.
