Description

Jewish family and children's services of northern new jersey (jfcs) is honored and pleased to submit an rsvp application in the primary focus area of healthy futures, and the secondary focus area of disaster services. An estimated 80 rsvp volunteers will serve over the three-year project period. The service activities in which these older adult volunteers will be involved include delivering kosher meals on wheels, collecting, organizing and delivering food for our pantry, providing telephone reassurance and friendly visiting, and disaster preparedness and mitigation. At the end of the three-year grant, we anticipate that 215 homebound or older adults, individuals with disabilities and/or their caregivers will be served and that 80% (in the aggregate) will report having increased social ties/social supports including increased food security. Our overarching goal is that seniors remain living in their own homes, as safely as possible, for as long as they are able. Jfcs will recruit volunteers who reflect the diversity of the 948,406 residents of our bergen county community. We will do so through relationships with other community service agencies, senior centers, and the faith communities within the county. Jfcs is a multi-service, nonsectarian community agency with over 60 years of providing mental health counseling, case management, and emergency assistance to individuals and families in need. Jfcs' primary purpose is to develop healthy individuals, strong families and vital communities. The agency maintains the highest standards of ethical leadership, fiscal integrity, transparency, cost effectiveness and responsiveness. The cncs federal investment of $65,893 per year that we respectfully request will be supplemented each of the three years by matching funds contributed to jfcs by the jewish federation of northern NJ.
