GLOBAL GAME CHANGERS CHILDREN'S EDUCATION INITIATIVE'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE ENRICHING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT EMPOWER ALL CHILDREN TO FIND THEIR INNER SUPERPOWER TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE AND BECOME ENGAGED CITIZENS, USING A SIMPLE EQUATION: MY TALENT + MY HEART = MY SUPERPOWER! THE PROPOSED VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH THE EDUCATION FOCUS AREA, IN PROVIDING AT-RISK AND HIGH-POVERTY STUDENTS WITH ACCESS TO HIGH QUALITY IN-SCHOOL AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME PROGRAMS THAT ENGAGE THEM IN LESSONS THAT SUPPORT THEIR DEVELOPMENT CONCURRENTLY WITH THEIR COMMUNITY'S DEVELOPMENT. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO ENHANCE SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS AND POWER SKILLS AS WELL AS GIVE STUDENTS THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND HOW THEY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, TO INSTILL CONFIDENCE AND BUILD SOCIAL NETWORKS, AND IMPROVE ACADEMIC AND BEHAVIORAL OUTCOMES. WE EXPECT THE PROJECT TO DIRECTLY BENEFIT OVER 6500 STUDENTS OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS, AND HOPE THAT THOSE BENEFITS WILL EXTEND TO THEIR FAMILIES, FRIENDS, AND COMMUNITIES. TWENTY-FOUR (24) VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS PROVIDING ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AND OVERSIGHT TO SITES WHERE THE PROGRAM WILL BE TAKING PLACE, COORDINATING THE PROGRAM'S IMPLEMENTATION STAFF AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS, IMPLEMENTING AND SUPPORTING PROGRAM QUALITY AND OUTCOME ASSESSMENT TOOLS, SUPPORTING ONGOING PROGRAM EXPANSION, AND BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF EDUCATION PARTNERS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY AS RELATES TO IN-SCHOOL AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME. INDIVIDUAL VISTAS MAY ASSIST IN GRANTWRITING, FUNDRAISING, VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT, EVENT MANAGEMENT, WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT, GRAPHIC DESIGN, CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS, AND PROGRAM OUTREACH TO VARIOUS COMMUNITY MEMBERS. THESE PROJECTS WILL TAKE PLACE OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS. THE PROJECT WILL ALSO SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE CLOSELY ALIGNED WITH GLOBAL GAME CHANGERS IN INFORMING THE COMMUNITY REGARDING BARRIERS TO SUCCESS AND EMPOWERING YOUTH THROUGH OUT-OF-SCHOOL-TIME AND IN-SCHOOL NONACADEMIC PROGRAMS FOCUSING ON THE BARRIERS TO, AND THE SOFT SKILLS NEEDED FOR SUCCESS.
