Description
The proposed vista project aligns with the economic opportunity and healthy futures focus areas. In the third year, the vista project will continue to expand economic opportunities in the community by developing a comprehensive community assessment of needs and opportunities, identifying and supporting investment into the community through the blue sky center and its partners in the form of impact investment, grantmaking, microenterprise development, job-training and reskilling. Vistas will continue to work towards improved and new housing stock and developing a local food system featuring food entrepreneurship opportunities, means of local, small-scale production, and nutrition literacy. Our project expects to benefit approximately 1,000 community members. Four vista members will contribute to the project goals by performing activities such as designing, implementing, and monitoring a community assessment, developing and expanding diversified funding and investment sources, developing and strengthening partnerships and collaboration across all sectors, establishing efficient organizational processes and procedures, quantifying and reporting impact and scalable models, building and increasing civic education and engagement over the course of 3 years, and increasing the capacity for blue sky to provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs and business enterprises in the community. In year three, two vista members will be assigned to build upon the community & housing assessment, and collaborative community design & engagement projects. One vista member will continue working on food, nutrition, and agricultural needs in the valley through building partnerships and developing programs and projects that increase access to food-related resources, economic opportunities, and build nutrition education in the community. The fourth vista member will continue to build capacity within blue sky center by developing new business processes and operating systems, cultivation of financial and in-kind resources from current and new supporters, development and management of outreach and advocacy materials, as well as, assisting in the development of micro-enterprises and economic revitalization programs and opportunities through blue sky center.
