Description
Chelp started with two chore-housekeepers and thirteen clients, this program is funded by the illinois department on aging(idoa) and the illinois department of human services-division of rehabilitation services (dors). These two programs are designed to provide housekeeping and personal care to persons who are disabled and are unable to do the necessary household tasks for them to live at home rather than with their adult child or in a nursing home. Chelp will focus on providing services which promote independence. The elderly struggle to stay out of nursing homes and hospitals. They need assistance with food preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and other daily activities. Chelp provides homemaker service to people in their home. Our clients are mostly people over 60 who need assistance with day to day activities in their home. Across the united states older adults are finding IT harder to care for themselves and may be looking at nursing home placement but with our assistance people are able to stay in their home longer. Our research has shown that there is approximately 17,133 people over the age of 65 living in the macon county area and about 55.2% of these people need some assistance caring for themselves. While there are currently 3 other providers in macon county we specialize in all senior services programs offered by the illinois department on aging. Chelp also hires the best of the best to care for the clients we provide service to. Chelp is a not for profit agency governed by a board of directors. Diane drew is executive directors she has over 20 years of experience. Chelp has over 200 clients and 100 staff members to care for these clients. IT is our goal to increase the number of clients to 350. Mission statement: the purpose of chelp is to stabilize, maintain, and improve the home environment of residents of macon county by means of education and assistance to enable seniors, disabled or individuals in emergency situations to maintain themselves in their own home so as to prevent short or long term institutionalization. Vision: chelp's vision is to keep all older adults and disabled in their homes for as long as possible by helping them keep their independence and dignity with any extra help they require.
