In the 1970's the community tripled in size due to a boom in mineral extraction, primarily trona. The community is still rooted in its identity as an industrial community where people work hard on the railroad or in the mines. Generally people here enjoy high standards of living but the recent economic downturn in wyoming has made life more difficult for green river's most vulnerable populations. As a municipality, projects undertaken are designed to benefit all citizens of the community, specifically in regard to water quality, sewer service, road infrastructure, and public amenities. This summer the city will also be redesigning several street curb systems to better meet the needs of our disabled citizens. 1.
