Description

The proposed vista project aligns with the economic opportunity focus area. The vista project seeks to expand the availability of legal assistance and information to low-income individuals, and expects to benefit hundreds of low-income clients by helping manage volunteers and building our capacity to connect low-income individuals with volunteer attorneys for legal assistance or non-attorney volunteers for legal information and/or referral to appropriate legal self-help resources. Our subsite, the wyoming children's trust fund (wctf), is focused on a justice related issue of preventing child abuse and neglect and keeping families out of the child welfare court system. The focus areas would be healthy futures, and rural community development. This program also aligns with EJW as low-income families are disproportionately involved with the justice system through child abuse and neglect cases. In addition to continuation of our current vista projects, we propose adding an additional 7 vista members and a vista leader to work on justice related issues. We propose placing vista members with our network of legal aid providers in order to build their capacity to serve low-income clients.
