Description
NYC service's mission is to promote volunteerism, engage new yorkers in service, build volunteer capacity and mobilize the power of volunteers and national service members to impact new york city's greatest needs. The proposed vista program, which involves eight new york city government agencies, uses a multi-pronged approach to tackle poverty that aligns with two of americorps vista's priority areas (economic opportunity, education, and healthy futures). As new york actively works to tackle several different issues tied to poverty (e.g. unemployment, lack of access to resources and benefits, etc.), the NYC vista program seeks to support efforts at eight city agencies -- administered by NYC service ? By advancing equity and helping to lift new yorkers out of poverty by increasing the agencies' scale and reach as they work with local communities to serve targeted populations of struggling new yorkers. 41 vista members, including two vista leaders, will contribute to the goals of the program by performing activities such as community assessments, community awareness and engagement, partnership expansion and development, outreach strategy development, volunteer recruitment and management system development, program development and delivery, and performance measurement. These activities will help new yorkers with the greatest needs to rise out of poverty.
