About this award

The Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded $450,000 to Muscogee Creek Nation on October 1, 2025, under the VOCA Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Program (CFDA 16.841), a component of the Children's Justice Act Partnerships for Indian Communities Grant Program.

Muscogee Creek Nation will strengthen criminal prosecution of child abuse and sexual abuse cases through hiring and training two additional Family Protection Team caseworkers, hosting multidisciplinary team meetings to establish policy changes aligned with trauma-informed service delivery approaches, and coordinating community outreach events to build public awareness of child abuse and neglect. The program supports American Indian communities in improving investigation, prosecution, and handling of child abuse cases—particularly child sexual abuse—in ways that increase victim support and reduce trauma, while delivering comprehensive, multidisciplinary, culturally competent, and trauma-informed services to victims and their families.

Performance is scheduled through September 30, 2028, with work performed in Okmulgee, Oklahoma within the Nation's reservation jurisdiction. The assistance type is a Project Grant.
