About this award

The U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime, awarded a $500,000 Project Grant under the VOCA Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Program (CFDA 16.841) to Pawnee Nation College (PNC). This 3-year grant will support PNC's partnership with the National Tribal Trial College (NTTC) and eight federally recognized tribes in northern Oklahoma to develop and deliver a 2-year vocational skills training program. The program aims to recruit, train, place, and retain Tribal Crime Victim Specialists. Key products and services to be provided include:

  • Developing a structured 2-year workforce development curriculum for Tribal Crime Victim Specialists, including recruitment, culturally and legally relevant training, job placement, and supervision strategies.
  • Providing tuition-free academic credit and stipends to up to 20 student-interns from PNC, 10 of whom will also earn a Certificate in Tribal Court Legal Advocacy from NTTC, for a total of 10 Tribal Crime Victim Specialist Certificates awarded.
