About this award
This $4,000,000 Project Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs (OJP) under the Congressionally Recommended Awards (CFDA 16.753) program will support critical victim services in the state of Alaska. The grant funding will be utilized by the Alaska Department of Public Safety's Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (CDVSA) to provide sub-awards to local service providers, including child advocacy centers, mental health providers for children exposed to violence and trauma, legal assistance organizations, and community-based victim service projects. This is due to reductions in other grant funding sources, such as the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), which have led to drastic service cuts. The sub-awards will provide programmatic and operational support to ensure that victims continue to receive essential services during this period of unstable and uncertain funding. Key sub-recipients include non-profit organizations like Star Inc., Sitkans Against Family Violence, The Tundra Women's Coalition, and Women In Safe Homes, which will deliver a range of victim-centered services such as crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, shelters, and community outreach across rural and urban areas of Alaska.
