The city of albuquerque's violence intervention program (VIP) will use the discretionary earmark funding to expand the scope of the albuquerque trauma recovery center (TRC) to serve victims of violent crime with a focus on reducing health disparities and providing services to communities of color, under-served and unserved victims of violence. The TRC combines assertive outreach, advocacy, evidence-based mental health services, and comprehensive case management tailored for each person in our program. The TRC meets each client where they are, emotionally, physically and culturally. Through the TRC expansion, the grantee will hire multilingual, diverse staff who serve youth and adult survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, community violence such as gun violence, domestic violence and those who have lost a loved one to homicide. TRC clients will have access to wraparound care that includes: individual and group psychotherapy, case management (help with needs such as shelter/ housing, financial benefits, food and clothing, legal advocacy and linkage to medical care), and trauma-informed psychiatry.
