Description

BDVP is one of the oldest domestic violence programs in the state, and one of the first to provide spanish-language services. During the grant period, they plan to strengthen these services by hiring another bilingual english/spanish-speaking counselor. This grant will also support the stop IPV program, which connects intimate partner violence (IPV) victims with appropriate services during hospital visits. The stop IPV program places trained IPV specialists at hospitals throughout the city to provide onsite care, counseling, and referrals to IPV survivors, and also trains hospital staff, medical providers, and leadership in proper IPV response techniques and policies. As the hospital is one of the only places that abusers may let their victims go alone, these services are of the utmost importance.
