The Monroe County Research Strategy and Development (RSD) Division received a $1,599,991 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) under the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and other Substances Use Program (CFDA 16.838). The grant will fund the creation and implementation of a Monroe County Overdose Fatality Review (OFR) Board with an embedded research team. The multidisciplinary OFR Board will review and analyze selected fatal overdose cases in Monroe County, provide recommendations to align resources and identify prevention initiatives, and strengthen community access to treatment options. The RSD Division will also conduct research to evaluate the OFR findings and combine them with local data sources to develop a comprehensive, data-driven approach to addressing substance use disorder challenges in the county. The grant period runs from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2027.
