The Greeley-Evans Weld County School District 6 was awarded a $810,501 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance under the STOP School Violence program (CFDA 16.839). The grant will fund a comprehensive initiative to build a positive school climate, expand restorative practices, implement new threat assessment strategies, and prevent school violence risks among the district's nearly 23,000 students. Key project components include hiring a Restorative Practices and Prevention Coordinator and Threat Management Coordinator, implementing new case management software, and providing mental health services and behavioral support for students. The initiative aims to increase staff competencies in restorative practices, reduce suspension and expulsion rates, decrease discipline disparities for marginalized students, and promote positive youth development. The grant will be used to deliver these services and implement evidence-based approaches to enhancing school safety and climate over the 3-year performance period from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2027.
