About this award
The Carroll County Sheriffs Office was awarded a $500,000 Project Grant from the Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance under the Congressionally Recommended Awards (CFDA 16.753) program. The purpose of this grant is to fund the design, purchase, and setup of state-of-the-art physical and digital forensic lab areas within the agency's new headquarters building. This will provide the latest tools, equipment, and related technology to enhance the Sheriffs Office's investigative capabilities and better serve the Carroll County community. The grant funding will cover design services for the forensic labs as well as the necessary equipment. This project is part of the Sheriffs Office's efforts to consolidate operations from 7 different buildings into a single new headquarters, which will improve overall efficiencies. The award period is from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2028.
Description
Our current facilities are inadequate; personnel are spread out among 7 different buildings around our county. With having a new headquarters, operations will be housed in one space, providing for better efficiencies for the office. The purpose of this program would be to focus specifically on the design, purchase and set up state-of-the art physical and digital forensic lab areas in the new building that would provide the latest tools, equipment, and related technology to enhance our investigative efforts in our community. The program includes funding to obtain design services specifically for forensic labs and to obtain equipment for the space. Crimes that are committed continually involve the use of more and more technology; as a result, our office must have the latest technology in place to conduct our investigations in order to better serve the citizens of our community.
