About this award

The U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (CFDA 16.043 - Veterans Treatment Court Discretionary Grant Program) awarded a $950,000 Project Grant to Navajo County, Arizona to increase the capacity of its Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) program, make systemic improvements, and expand treatment and support services for veteran participants. The 4-year grant will enable Navajo County to:

  1. Increase VTC capacity by 100% from 40 to 80 participants
  2. Enhance the VTC program through a dedicated staff position, a one-stop-shop office, improved data management, professional development, and new community partnerships
  3. Provide expanded treatment, recovery, and support services for veterans through collaborations with Community Bridges Inc. and ChangePoint Integrated Health

The goal is to help restore more justice-involved veterans to being successful, contributing members of the Navajo County community. This Project Grant aligns with the Bureau of Justice Assistance's broader efforts to provide state and local governments the resources needed to implement, enhance, and sustain evidence-based VTC programs that reduce recidivism and increase access to treatment for eligible veterans.
