This $997,672 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance (CFDA 16.839 STOP School Violence Program) supports the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office (AGO) and its partnership with Sandy Hook Promise Foundation to deliver violence prevention programming in Massachusetts schools.
Under this grant, Sandy Hook Promise will implement its Know the Signs programs, including the Start With Hello and Say Something trainings, to teach students how to minimize social isolation, recognize warning signs of violence or self-harm, and report concerns to trusted adults. The initiative will also establish Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Promise Clubs as student-led groups to sustain the programming year-round. Additionally, Sandy Hook Promise will provide training workshops for educators to integrate the prevention curricula into their existing school policies and activities. The funding is critical to scaling this school violence prevention and mental health support programming statewide across up to 75 new middle and high schools in Massachusetts.
