Description
The funding will assist in the purchase of 17 bwcs for our full-time officers and reserves. Currently, we have 13 bwcs actively worn by our 12 sworn officers, but these cameras are outdated and at the end of their useful life. In december 2023, our 5-year contract with motorola will end, and our existing cameras will no longer be functional. We currently do not have the budget available to fully fund the purchase of new cameras for FY2324 or FY2425. Shpd is requesting 17 new bwcs, which will not only enable the existing successful program to continue but also expand the program to allow our reserve officers, who currently do not have cameras, to record their interactions.
