This $560,000 project grant from the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance will fund the integration of body-worn cameras and in-car video systems for the Oak Park Department of Public Safety. The City of Oak Park will receive the funding to provide body-worn cameras for all officers and update existing in-car video systems to seamlessly integrate with the new body cameras. This will allow both video systems to work together efficiently to record law enforcement encounters with the public for accountability and transparency purposes, consistent with the goals of the Congressionally Recommended Awards program under the Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. Completion is slated for September 30, 2023.
