THE LAFOURCHE PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE (LPSO) WILL DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT THE "HARMONY PLACE/FAMILY REUNIFICATION CENTER" PROGRAM AT THE LAFOURCHE PARISH CORRECTIONAL COMPLEX. THE PROGRAM WILL INVOLVE THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CHILD-FRIENDLY FAMILY VISITING CENTER, WHICH WILL HAVE SPECIFIC AREAS FOR PARENTING TRAINING, PRIVATE COUNSELING, AND GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR FAMILY ACTIVITIES, AS WELL AS A PLAYGROUND AND RESIDENTIAL-LOOKING LANDSCAPING. THE INTERIOR FINISHES WILL BE SIMILAR TO A TYPICAL CLASSROOM. ADDITIONALLY, LPSO WILL USE GRANT FUNDS TO REVIEW, MODIFY, AND IMPLEMENT VISITATION POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND STAFF TRAINING TO SUPPORT FAMILY STRENGTHENING AND THE BEST INTERESTS OF CHILD VISITORS.
