About this award

The Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women awarded $475,000 to the Village of DOT Lake on August 1, 2026, under the Culturally and Linguistically Specific Services Program (CFDA 16.016). The award funds expansion of the tribe's existing Teejuh Behavioral Health program and establishment of a Sexual Assault Response Team, an evidence-based multidisciplinary approach to sexual assault response designed to strengthen tribal capacity to serve victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Performance runs through July 31, 2029, in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Village of DOT Lake, a federally recognized Alaska Native tribe serving approximately 190 tribal citizens in the Upper Tanana region, receives the award as a prime recipient and has established a pattern of federal support in victim services across multiple agencies; this grant represents one of four Office on Violence Against Women awards in the tribe's portfolio alongside prior investments in domestic violence and sexual assault services programming.

Description

This program supports the maintenance and replication of existing successful community-based programs providing culturally specific services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, as well as the development of innovative culturally specific strategies to enhance access to services and resources for victims who face obstacles to using more traditional programs. Projects must address at least one of the programs statutory purpose areas. This project would strengthen the tribes capacity to support victims by expanding an existing behavioral health program (teejuh behavioral health) and establishing a sexual assault response team (sart), which is an evidence-based multidisciplinary approach to responding to sexual assault.
