The Office on Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice awarded Helen Ross McNabb Center, Inc. $500,000 on October 1, 2025, under the Transitional Housing Assistance for Victims of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Stalking, or Sexual Assault program (CFDA 16.736).
The McNabb Center, a Knoxville, Tennessee-based nonprofit, will operate 11 program-owned clustered transitional housing residences serving 11 survivors and their families in an urban region of Tennessee. The project delivers victim-centered transitional housing and support services including victim advocacy, housing advocacy, financial and employment counseling, individual and group counseling, and legal advocacy to move homeless survivors or those in need of housing assistance toward permanent housing. Clients will receive assistance for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 24 months. The McNabb Center collaborates with Compassion Coalition, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, Knoxville Family Justice Center, Knox County Sheriff's Office, and Knoxville Police Department on service delivery.
The period of performance runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2028, with place of performance in Knoxville, Tennessee. The funding is classified as a Project Grant. This is a continuation project under the federal program, which provides transitional housing and support services to minors, adults, and dependents who are homeless or in need of housing assistance as a result of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
