The Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women awarded Pinoleville Pomo Nation $479,078 on October 1, 2025, under the Violence Against Women Discretionary Grants for Indian Tribal Governments program (CFDA 16.587).
Pinoleville Pomo Nation, a federally recognized tribe in Mendocino County, California, will conduct a needs assessment and develop a three-year strategic plan to increase tribal capacity to respond to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking crimes against Indian women. The Nation will work with the community to develop education and prevention strategies addressing domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking, and to address the needs of children exposed to domestic violence. The Nation will also develop, strengthen, and implement policies, protocols, and training for law enforcement in cases of missing or murdered Indians. The award runs through September 30, 2028, with work performed in Ukiah, California. This is a start award. Pinoleville Pomo Nation has partnered with Project Sanctuary on project planning.
