This $550,000 Project Grant award from the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women (CFDA 16.736 - Transitional Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Program) will support Sepa Mujer, Inc., a non-profit organization in Patchogue, NY, in providing comprehensive transitional housing and supportive services to up to 10 survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The program will offer 6-24 months of transitional housing, as well as services such as rental/utility assistance, case management, safety planning, counseling, job training, and legal/immigration assistance. The funding will also allow Sepa Mujer to hire an additional staff member to implement the program and provide follow-up services for at least 6 months after survivors secure permanent housing. Sepa Mujer will collaborate with three partner organizations to deliver this holistic, victim-centered approach, with a focus on serving the underserved Hispanic and Spanish-speaking immigrant populations in the region.
