This Project Grant award of $399,905 from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women (CFDA #16.525 - Grants to Reduce Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking on Campus Program) supports Spring Hill College, in collaboration with the Mobile Rape Crisis Center and Mobile County District Attorney's Office, in implementing a comprehensive campus-based approach to combating domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
The key activities include: 1) establishing campus-wide prevention programs focused on healthy masculinity, such as creating a peer education group, hosting prevention events, and providing trainings for male students and athletes; and 2) developing an approach to address the needs of LGBTQ students on campus, including providing relevant training for key personnel, creating a referral process for specialized services, and developing a tailored bystander intervention program. This 3-year project, with an end date of September 30, 2027, is designed to enhance victim services, implement prevention and education initiatives, and strengthen security and investigation strategies to respond to gender-based violence on Spring Hill College's campus.
