The U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women has awarded the Governors Community Outreach Federal Programs Office (GCO-FPO) in Guam a $500,000 Project Grant under the Consolidated And Technical Assistance Grant Program to Address Children and Youth Experiencing Domestic and Sexual Violence and Engage Men and Boys as Allies (CFDA 16.888). This 36-month grant will fund the Guam Children and Youth Project, which aims to: 1) Provide trauma-informed counseling services for domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking to youth ages 11-24; 2) Develop and deliver training to law enforcement and allied professionals on youth victimization and offenses; and 3) Create a poster outreach program to inform youth on resources for reporting these crimes. The project partners with local organizations including WestCare Pacific Islands, Sanctuary Incorporated of Guam, and the Department of Youth Affairs to deliver comprehensive, community-based services and prevention strategies addressing the needs of children and youth impacted by domestic and sexual violence in Guam.
