Description
The grants to indian tribal governments program assists tribal governments, and authorized designees of tribal governments, to 1) decrease the incidence of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, SEX trafficking, and stalking in tribal communities; 2) strengthen the capacity of tribes to exercise their sovereign authority to respond to these violent crimes; and 3) ensure that perpetrators of these violent crimes are held accountable for their criminal behavior. The bristol BAY native association (BBNA) is a consortium of federally recognized tribes located in anchorage, alaska. The family wellness division of BBNA works to address violence against american indian/alaska native (AI/an) women through awareness, prevention, and collaboration on issues of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and SEX trafficking. With this funding, the BBNA family services department will: 1) enhance services and increase tribal capacity to respond to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, SEX trafficking, and stalking crimes against AI/an women; 2) provide transitional housing services for survivors; and 3) provide comprehensive support services for victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, SEX trafficking, or stalking. The BBNA has partnered with a local non-profit, SAFE and fear-free environment (SAFE), to plan this project. The timing for performance of this new award is 36 months.
