About this award

The Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (GCASAFV) has been awarded a $350,000 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) under the Consolidated And Technical Assistance Grant Program to Address Children and Youth Experiencing Domestic and Sexual Violence and Engage Men and Boys as Allies (CFDA 16.888).

The 36-month grant will enable GCASAFV, in partnership with Gumamami, Inc., to: 1) train and empower men and boys to model respect and healthy behaviors as allies in preventing violence against women and girls; 2) enhance culturally-relevant prevention, outreach, and awareness projects focused on male-targeted programming; and 3) implement a train-the-trainer model to facilitate ongoing delivery of the Prevention, Resources, Outreach, and Awareness (PROA) project. The grant will also fund the provision of culturally sensitive training and education to Asian and Pacific Islander communities, including immigrant populations from the Federated States of Micronesia, to address OVW priority areas of expanding services for underserved populations.

Also, by providing culturally sensitive training and education to asian and pacific islanders, including immigrant communities from the federated states of micronesia, that adapts resources to island cultural practices, the project will address OVW priority areas 1 and 5.
