About this award

The Department of Justice Offices Boards and Divisions Office on Violence Against Women awarded a $302,909 Project Grant to the University of New Hampshire to evaluate the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center's economic case management program from November 1, 2021 through October 31, 2024. The grant was awarded under the OVW Research and Evaluation Program (CFDA 16.026) to further develop the evidence base for approaches to combating domestic violence and sexual assault.

Under the grant, the University of New Hampshire will conduct an evaluation of the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center's case management services to assess their effectiveness in addressing survivors' complex economic needs and understanding how meeting those needs can support healing from sexual violence. The evaluation will analyze both quantitative and qualitative data collected over three years, including BARCC's existing case management data, intake records with new economic items, in-depth interviews with 75 survivors who have and have not utilized case management, and brief interviews with 50 survivors who had minimal contact. The results will be published in a final report, scholarly paper, and at least one webinar. Brandeis University serves as a sub-awardee to assist with the evaluation.
