About this award
The Organized Village of Kake in Alaska was awarded a $713,913 project grant by the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women under the Violence Against Women Discretionary Grants for Indian Tribal Governments program (CFDA 16.587). Over a three-year period from October 2021 through September 2024, the Organized Village of Kake will implement a project to decrease violent crimes against Indian women, strengthen tribal authority to respond to such crimes, and ensure perpetrators are held accountable. Key deliverables will include collaborating with local nonprofit victim services programs and a tribal domestic violence coalition to develop and strengthen victim services for cases involving violent crimes against Indian women in the community. The funding and project activities aim to increase the tribe's capacity to respond to these issues, in line with the broader goals of the federal grant program.
