The Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Program awarded Independent School District No 2859 (Glencoe-Silver Lake Schools) $375,000 on October 1, 2025, under the School Violence Prevention Program (CFDA 16.071) to implement evidence-based school security improvements through October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2028.
The award funds coordination with local law enforcement, training for officers to prevent student violence, placement of metal detectors and other physical deterrents, acquisition and installation of emergency notification technology, and other security measures at schools in the Glencoe, Minnesota jurisdiction. Performance of work occurs in Glencoe, Minnesota. The award is a Project Grant with a period of performance of three years. The recipient is responsible for semiannual programmatic performance reports and quarterly Federal Financial Reports, as well as final closeout reporting. The COPS Office will conduct award monitoring including site visits, office-based reviews, and periodic surveys to verify compliance with nonsupplanting requirements and programmatic and financial conditions of the award.
