The purpose of the cops office school violence prevention program (svpp) is to improve security at schools and on school grounds through school safety programs and technology

The Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Program awarded $495,585 to Riddle School District 70 on October 1, 2025, under the School Violence Prevention Program (CFDA 16.071) to implement evidence-based school safety programs and security technology improvements at the district's schools in Riddle, Oregon through September 30, 2028.

The funding supports coordination with local law enforcement, training for local law enforcement officers to prevent student violence, placement and use of metal detectors and other deterrent measures, and acquisition and installation of technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency. The district is responsible for submitting semiannual programmatic performance reports and quarterly federal financial reports, with a final closeout report due at project completion.

Funding under this award program will be used by the school jurisdiction to implement evidence-based programs to improve school security.
