Description

The douglas police department is seeking accreditation through the arizona law enforcement accreditation program (aleap) which was established by the arizona association of chiefs of police (aacop) in 2018. The accreditation process is information intensive, time sensitive and success is largely dependent upon the agency's accreditation manager. The agency reclassified a sworn position to a professional staff position to serve as the agency's accreditation manager in 2024. The department was successfully enrolled into the aleap accreditation process in september of 2024 with a deadline to achieve initial accreditation by september of 2026. This project seeks the assistance from the DOJ with a funding allocation for associated travel/training for the accreditation manager and mock assessment team, dedicated computer equipment for his/her use, accreditation software, property and evidence equipment.
