THIS PROJECT WILL OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH IN PINEVILLE, LOUISIANA AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES BY PROVIDING INNOVATIVE AND ORIGINAL TRAININGS ON COPS AS PEACE OFFICERS TO ADVANCE POLICING WHICH IS EFFECTIVE, EMPATHETIC AND JUST. THIS TRAINING REPRESENTS A NEW POLICING MODEL DESIGNED TO WORK FOR EVERYBODYTHE COPS, THEIR UNIONS, ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS, THE COMMUNITY AND POLICE LEADERS. AS A RESULT OF THESE TRAINING COURSES, PARTICIPANTS WILL UNDERSTAND THE FRAMEWORK OF TRANSFORMING LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO PEACE OFFICERS TO INCREASE PUBLIC TRUST AND CONFIDENCE IN THE POLICE. THE CURRICULUM ALSO DELIVERS HOW-TO TRAINING ON HOW TO OPERATIONALIZE THIS NEW FRAMEWORK WITHIN AN AGENCY AND COMMUNITY, AS WELL AS TRAIN THE TRAINER SO THE TRAININGS CAN CONTINUE AFTER THE LIVE SESSIONS HAVE FINISHED. THOUGH TRAINING AND EDUCATION, THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT WILL BE TO PROMOTE MEANINGFUL ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE BY BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF PINEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ITS MORE THAN 70 SWORN AND NON-SWORN STAFF TO UNDERSTAND AND ADOPT PROMISING PRACTICES IN COMMUNITY POLICING, INCLUDING PRACTICES THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO INCREASE PUBLIC TRUST AND CONFIDENCE IN THE POLICE SUCH AS REFRAMING PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF COPS AS PEACE OFFICERS A SECONDARY GOAL WILL BE TO COLLECT AND UTILIZE PROJECT DATA TO EVALUATE THE PROJECT AND DEMONSTRATE EVIDENCE OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PEACE OFFICER FRAMEWORK IN INCREASING PUBLIC TRUST OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND BUILDING TRUST AND CONFIDENCE IN PINEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
